I have been unable to sleep since the birth of my third son (over 8 yrs ago) without the help of sleep aides. Most days I am fine without it, or what little I get, some days I feell like I'm dragging. I suffer from migraines, but other than that, I am in good health. I have a wonderful family, not alot of stress, a happy marriage, etc. I see no reason for this, my mind just won't shut off. Any ideas on what causes the body to do this?

Sounds like an anxiety disorder. I have a happy life but sometimes I do the same. Here's a link I found that you might find most useful.

Try to think of one thing and keep thinking on that one thing. Try to make that one thing something positive. Say it out loud a few times to help you, and just keep meditating on that.
