You may have too wait or you may not. When you went to the doctor how many centimeters were you? I believe you need to get to 10 I could be wrong it's been a while but any way When you had your doctor visit when they checked you did you over hear that number ? That number is important because It's an indication that the baby is coming. Well I know it's hard to relax but try anyway get as much sleep as you can now especially since you are so close. You'll be thankful when you are waking up every two or four hours for feedings and diaper changes. Also don't be afraid of infections if you have been seeing your doctor, Isn't every week now since you are so close. If there was a problem they would have you there every day. Hooked up to monitors listening to the babies heart. Your doctor would have told you about a possible infection accruing when your muscas plug comes. don't stress that makes the labor harder, more painful.

Coming from a guy who has seen a mucas plug and with my wife researched it; it can and can't. My wife was induced 2 weeks after she passed her mucas plugs. On a website she was writing a journal about her pregnancy the majority of the women said that it was weeks before they gave birth to their child.

You can lose your plug up to 3 weeks before delivery. So just lay back and relax. They baby will come when he/she is ready. If you really want this baby to come try drinking Raspberry Leaf Tea from a Natures Store or GNC. For some reason, they say at 40 weeks usually starts contractions.

If your plug is out but the water hasn't broke, keep waiting. I was dilated for 3 weeks before labor hit. Any minute now you can start. Don't depress yourself thinking about 2 more weeks. Keep your bags packed and the nursery ready! Maybe tonight....

I think the thought of a mucas plug makes me sick. I think you need to go to a doctor instead of playing on the computer.

It could be - the best sign is when your water breaks. I never passed a mucus plug, so it may not be a good indication of when you will be going into labor.

I passed my plug 3 weeks before I had my baby. I know the wait is tough. Congrats by the way.

I think you need to be on your way to the hospital to see what your doctor says. If you are 40 weeks, you should be in the hospital anyway. I'm only 37 and I'm ready to get it over, NOW!

Call your doc, you are now at a high risk for infection... see what the advice nurse says, I would say... no more sex because of infection risk.
Also... my sis in law walked into the hospital 4 cm dialated and NEVER had labor pains.
