I always put the Beatles #1 and then probably the Who. Love the Stones, but much like an aging athlete, they have ruined their legacy by staying on the field a bit too long.

The Who has that wonderful 70's anthem/ operatic sound, much more grand than the Stones, so I guess that would push them ahead a bit. And the ever brilliant Townsend, of course. The Who has stayed fresher in retrospect and was always more experimental in their sound. The Stones are classic, but fewer chances were taken.

The Clash, Madness and The Jam are all up there as well. Very hard question, this.

The Rolling Stones in my opinion are the best all-time, world-wide rock band but close are Fleetwood Mac I think.

Chumbawamba, most definitely. They're music is catchy, and just fun to listen to.
