to set the record straight, I'm not looking for a free education. I looked into "financial aid" just to look into it. So many Democrats told me it was easy to get a Pell Grant, and I found out it wasn't. And this was before the war in Iraq.
Now I can't even get Stafford Loans because my husband makes too much. So it looks like community college for me.
But the point is, people on here are too quick to tell someone off. Why can't people just be nice and helpful for a change?

ggrrrrr people.
I looked into Pell Grants 4 years ago, before I ever met my husband. And FYI, we came in under poverty and were still told we were too rich.

You seem pretty quick to say something as well. Why is it just Democrats? You seem pretty selfish if you ask me. There are people that need that money more than you do (obviously if you're husband "makes too much"). Stop complaining and be thankful for what you have.

Yeah, pretty much everyone in my town, everyone that graduated high school with me, and over 3/4 ths of the people at my college are under the poverty level. Does that mean that we all should get a free education? NO! We still need to work for what we get. One of the major problems with this country is that people think they are entitled to everything without any work. A little help is greatly appreciated, yes. But understand, after you graduate and get a good job, that education you paid for will help you! You'll be making more than others. You will be able to pay off those loans.

my experience with financial aid is that unless you're at or near the poverty level you will qualify for very little. it used to be much easier to get pell grants but bush administration repealed much of those to pay for nclb (haha). i qualified for pell grants (almost everyone did) when i was at community college but it was already so cheap i just paid out of pocket. but this was from 1997-2000 when clinton was in office.
i took stafford loans for my master's and am currently paying them back (about $15,000). that is the reality of financial aid. unless you're really poor or really rich (where you can afford it anyway) you're kinda screwed. the middle class always gets dumped on.

Free? ROTC babe. Paid tution, books, and a job at graduation.
Option 2? Ever consider the exciting and well paying career of exotic dancing? Many a girl makes more in one night on the pole, then most do in a week at a 9to5.
Option 3 Other loan options are there keep looking.....

There is an alternative private student loan as an option. You can go to http://www.astrivetuitionloan.com/ and check out one example. This loan is credit based, not need based, and comes directly to you, not through the school. I think you can get the amount of your tuition, or 30000, which ever is less, per year. It's not the greatest option, because you have to pay it back of course, but it could help you through some tight financial times until you get done with school. Good luck!

I don't know, but I guess they don't understand that even if it is over the computer, the words can still hurt. I just wish that I could tell them all that God hears and sees everything, so watch out. I saw this question today that just really hurt me. This girl asked if she should commit suicide by slashing her wrists, and this idiot said sure do you need a razor? I reported him because that could have been all she needed to take her life. Some people just need to realize that they shouldn't be rude to people because that could be someones mom or dad, and they wouldn't want anyone talking to their loved ones that way! Anyway I hope all goes well with your future and college. ~Good Luck~

Cause most people feel like the world owes them something and they can't stand to think about someone getting something out of it if it's not them.
Have you talked to a counselor at the school to see what options you have? Probably would be best to get your required classes out of the way anyway at a community college where it is cheaper.

It doesn't matter what kind of question you ask, there is always someone out there looking for something obnoxious to say to someone...They look at the question and think, You idiot, even when they have no clue about your actual situation. And, it is easy to get away with that when you are just writing and not face-to-face.

In spite of this, I still ask questions once in awhile. And try not to be mean when I answer...

The Yahoo! Answers unfortunately is not a welcome wagon; it seems to be more and more being taken over by trolls who just enjoy their anonymity to come in and say outrageous things so others will jump all over them. Ignore the trolls. They will go away. You may try a different category of Questions, such as "higher education". It's on this site somewhere.

Most people are on here to tell people what to do, not to be helpful. It is just a place where they think they can say whatever they wouldnt say in person. Sorry about your frustration. I just refrain from asking questions, since I havent yet seen any with good answers.
