My husband stutters- not sure if that's what you mean. He has since he was able to talk and as far as we can find (and we've researched a LOT) there is no reputable cure. He's gone to a speech therapist who helped him to control it a little tiny bit but for the most part it's just who he is. It's not entirely true for him at least that it has anything to do with comfort because he stutters most in front of me because he's not trying to cover it up. Hope that helps.

Have a grandson who stammered when he first came to live with us but as he felt more secure, the stammering stopped. Give the person plenty of time and do not rush them or make them embarrassed.

Frequently it's just that the brain is going too fast for the mouth to keep up. You should be able to buy a speech correction book that will help, most of the time cases aren't bad enough to go to a speech therapist, and they just screw you out of cash. Help him to put pressure on his consonants and drop his jaw down on vowel sounds. Get him to just think about how to form the sounds in his mouth before he says them, and it should help to descrease it more and more over time. He'll get there eventually, good luck!
