There was a rod through the top of the flag to keep it up. Better picture that way.

To make the flag look like a real, flying flag, if you look closely at the flagpole, there is a supporting beam that holds the flag in a "flying" position... because you're right.. there is no wind on the moon.. so what would be the point of putting a flag up unless one could see it "flying?"

Yeah conspiracy theorists like myself do say it was created in a studio to boost the funding for the NASA space program. It is hard to believe that with all the things they are still finding wrong with just getting outside of earth's atmosphere that they actually made it to the moon back then with the way technology was.
and the ROD theory doesn't hold up for the fact that the flag was WAVING...not completely still...not only that no stars are visible in the background..how do you explain that...some say the brightness of the lights overpowered the brightness of the stars...

The "waving" flag on the moon was special made with thin plastic strips in the field of the flag to hold it in a waving position. Once the astronaut had the flag pole secured the strips sprang up.

I don't think moonlanding is fake, I think moon has less wind than earth, that the gravity was less because many planet has different atmosphere. It may be likely it recieve a bit of wind from the earth (it cause tides during in night) and has a less mass. That's my theory.

That is because there was a rod at the top to hold it open for the photos.
Think about it, would you take a flag all the way to the moon just to droop so no one can see it properly?

Keep in mind there are conspiracy theories on everything of significance that happens. Read and find out for yourself and make an educated opinion. In a low gravity environment things like a flag or a piece of cloth appear to "wave" or flap due to the lack of the forces we are used to on earth.

there's also almost no GRAVITY on the moon either, so the flag wouldn't hang down. i would be one of the first to agree that our government would stage almost anything to fool the voters, but, on the other hand, i believe they would do a fairly good job of it. missing the flag thing would be too sloppy.
