I think you better click on Control Panel tab then click on Electric Options(I got Japanese xp so this English could be similar)
Then check the options which are selected.
If you still face problem then there is a way.
Click on Start left bottom
Click on All Programs
Click on Accessories
Click on System Tools
Click on Restore System
here you will have to choose the date when your pc was working fine those dates will be in bold figures. Follow the instructions.
Do not forget to Re-start computer.
This is the final Medicine I usually recommend and it work 90%.
Still need help send me mail:nihon94@yahoo.com

Check for viruses and spyware. If clean, perhaps you'll need to reinstall Windows

Try closing all programs running on your computer and ya run anti virus and spyware. If you want your computer to run faster you should always close everything on your computer.

Take it somewhere to get it fixed, you can't fix that problem yourself. It could be a variety of things.
