I want to major in anthropology/sociology but have no clue what colleges have good social science programs.

Cornell University & University of Wisconsin-Madison--Great for studying foreign areas, particularly emerging economies.

Grinnell College, University of the South--Good overall liberal arts colleges in rural areas.

University of Hawaii at Manoa--the nearby East-West Center houses and funds many UH grad students from the Asia-Pacific region. There's nothing like writing a paper about the Maori and having a Maori student read the paper and tell you you're full of it.

You may want to consider getting a solid, broad education at a liberal arts college, and then attending a major research university for graduate school. Professors at large state universities tend to neglect their undergraduate students, or the classes are huge, or your classes are taught by graduate students.
