Please. Your country has to do something to get them all housing somewhere else. With weather patterns changing, they are destined to become a swamp. I know it may be hard for some people to leave, but it is absolutely necessary. I am praying for the southern United States this summer. Please don't rebuild, and please don't stay. I heard of Arthel's Angels the other day, on an interview on Montel. She is a known face in the media, and can speak for those living in New Orleans. She would be perfect for raising funds for relocating the most vulnerable citizens first. May take a couple years, but hopefully most people can get on as before, only safe from the wrath of Mother Nature.

My boyfriend just returned from a business trip there and he told me how horrible things are there. The trash is piled up everywhere and the locals have the most bitter attitude. Well I wonder why they would have attitude? Could it be that America turned her back on New Orleans. These people have been through hell like a third world country and they are in America, were we take care of our own, or at least I thought we did.
As far as building a house there, no, my destiny is in the mountains (above sea level).

I was born there. I have not lived there for 40 years. Even before Katrina I would have wanted to build a house there. I would not like to live there again. I visited a few times as an adult, and the people were very rude and unfriendly. It was also very hot and humid and full of mosquitoes. It rains there almost EVERY day in the afternoon when the squalls come off of the lake and the gulf. I like Texas alot better!

The only house I would be there would be a house boat.. I have been to New Orleans and it is one of my fav places to go but they have some serious issues after the big hurricane. So no I would not.

the same people that would build their house under a lake... would build a house in new orleans.. im not one of them.

The smart thing to do would be buy some land cuz its probably cheap right now. Then in a couple years when ppl aren't afraid to live there again sell it for a profit.

it's a swamp, it stinks and it is below sea level, was not a great idea to build a city there in the first placce- I would never build a house there and I am glad to have moved from there .

I have live in the midnorth and mideast all my life. I do not plan on living anywhere near the South.... Farthest south I will go is 10SE.
So my answer is no. I would not build my house there.
