If you need to ask yahoo answers whether or not to get a horse then I suggest the answer is no!

Owning a horse is a huge responsibility that shouldn't be entered into lightly. Too many people like the idea of owning a horse - or a dog/cat etc for that matter and then realise the amount of work, commitment, time and money that it takes to care for them.

I have horses and dogs and I have given up a lot for them - it is seriously more difficult to centre your life around animals than children.

Animals are 100% dependent on us, as are children, but animals are a 24/7 job and you can't leave them with a baby sitter when you decide you need to go out for a while, or take them with you and stick them in the back of the car!

If you feel that you can give a horse the attention, care and commitment that is required and fully understand the financial commitment involved then by all means buy a horse, but seriously look at the full picture before you rush into something and the animal suffers for your haste.

Horses are a lot of responsibility and there is a lot you most know. The best way to find out if you really should get one, is to become a volunteer at a horse rescue organization. While working around them you can learn much about them and what it will take to take care of one. This also will give you the opportunity to decide if this is what you really want without jumping into something that might not be for you.

You just don't go out and buy a horse for fun. That is totally irresponsible. It is a huge responsibiliyt and if you don't know how to handle one it could seriously hurt you. I would not reccomend getting one if you haven't been taking riding lessons or if you don't ever plan on getting on it's back. If anything don't get a full sized horse get a mimi or something.

yes but only if you understand the responsibility and cost of one. the grooming, feeding, exercising, the tack and stuff you can get to exercise it can get pretty costly. but they are great fun. i used to have three. i loved going horseback riding all the time. its a great stress reliever.

only if you know what you are getting in to. they are great animals but can be expensive and need a lot of time and attention. i have three and they are a lot of work. but i enjoy that kind of stuff, i wouldn't sell them for any amount of money.
