That is really sad and immature that your grandmother is acting like that about your father. She shouldn't be being an "Indian Giver". Those are gifts for a reason....she gave them because she wanted to in her heart....not so later on down the line think of all the money she can get from her dead son. How pathetic. I'm sorry she is treating you like that and at such a horrible time when she should be more compassionate. Will she win? I have no idea.....I would have to hear both sides of the story, I don't know the reasons why granny wants all this money. I think that if both of you have bargained and she is still not happy then I guess what can you do but go to court. Just make sure you have everything organized and in order when you go.

Nobody can sue anyone for somebody else's gifts or debt...unless it's a married cpl and the husband or wife died and they are suing a spouse. I think it's really sad that this gramma is suing you guys over a deceased person's gifts. Plus...they were gifts...if there is no documentation stating that these things were bought with intent of owing, she can't do nothing. The world is sooooo sue happy nowadays. Another thing...don't offer her a dime...you don't owe her anything!!! Don't let her financially destroy you!!!

Granny is just an old hag. Probably mentality ill to even think of such a thing. Don't give her anything, I'm betting a judge will through it out of court if it even gets that far. A gift is just that, A GIFT. She has no chance what-so-ever of winning

get a good lawyer, there's no way she can win this, the judge will laugh when he hears about this. get her some sleeping pills so she'll shut up. i dont mean this to be mean but it's true. i'm sorry to say this but she's going to die and what a mother of taking back gifts she gave her son. what a fool. i think granny needs to read this. she's just a greedy old hag

Once the gift was givin, it became your dad's property. Spend the $22,000 on a good lawyer instead. Grannies shouldn't sue.

Well, this sounds like a rather strange situation. I think it depends on many different factors. Is there a will? Did your dad say something to your grandmother about wanting her to have the gifts back if he were to die?

what a hag, i'm so sorry, that must hurt that not only did ur dad die but now it seems since grans is suing that her love was on a pretty shaky foundation.
if truly the money she gave was a gift, she is entitled to none of it back. talk to a lawyer. most have free inital consultations, or you probably have one on retainer since your dad passed.
i'm truly sorry for the loss of your father AND your grandmother.

Settle out of court!
this is your grandmother.
It's ugly enough already ... take the initiative and don't let it get uglier.
No, I don't agree, I don't know the details ... but I am NOt saying she is right ... but someone here has to take the high road... and it appears she isn't.
What a difficult situation!!
