As someone who has been offended against by a family member and a family friend, I do care about sex offenders. The family friend I have no contact with anymore as he is still a dangerous man. The family member, after having to work through a lot of issues, I now communicate with and love. I don't want to see them ostracized, but I do believe safety measures need to be put in place as they have such a high chance of offending again against someone else. It's just a proven statistic. That is a horribly hard cycle to break. So caring about sex offenders also means ensuring that they are not put in the place where they will have the opportunity to offend someone again. That is protecting them and protecting others.

That's ridiculous. Sex offenders need to be punished more, not rewarded or receiving on ANY sort of leniency. Once a deviant, always a deviant. It's proven fact that you can't cure these people. And it's also fact that those who abuse have 90% likely been abused by family or close family friends. So the family doesn't need any more protecting that the disgusting excuse for a human being does.

I care and think people need to learn that the parents are supposed to care for their children not believe barring movements of sex offenders will protect them. It is politically correct to abuse the rights of sex offenders and plant false confidence in the parents that their children will be safe. They have to realize the most likely abuse of their child will come from a family member, close friend or member of the clergy. The media feeds on sex offenders that are really rare.

I absolutely care, we are all humans, we all have something wrong with us. Some worse than others, I am a victim myself, twice, I was very young but I can never forget. One was a family member the other not. I myself have never had the impulse or inclination to do this to someone. But I don't hate them, they have and illness and so far there isn't a cure may never be, but we should try. Just saying they are broke and can't be fixed lacks all humanity. This is what makes us different than animals, we try to fix what is broken animals eat it or abandon it.

As a person who has dealt with sexual abuse, I do feel that there has to be harsher punishment for those who have committed the crime. There can't be any leniency because other people will end up being hurt and tormented for the rest of their lives. I have no real solution for the problem except for more jail time, but there have to be other ways to resolve the conflict.

this question reminds me of: If a tree fell on a mime, would anyone care? If you're a pedophile, rapist, you've given up your rights and privaleges. You screwed up.. Now deal.
