It may mean that your MIGHT be 39 weeks along. Or you may have a large child. Or it could be that your baby was moving around a lot and it was an inaccurate measurement.

I would say just be preparred to have this baby a few weeks earlier than expected.
Or be ready to have a bigger child.

I don't think it would be anything to worry that much about. If your still concerened in a week. Talk to your doctor at your next visit.

That means if you are 36 weeks they measure your fundus and it should be almost the same number like the measurement and it's normal to be 2 under or two up.Some women have little bellies while pregnant and have big babies and again with big bellies can have normal babies. It depends also how much water you carry or if its your first or more pregnancy.Your baby could be bigger but your obstetrician should feel the size of your baby and also you could be a week more than you thought

With gestational diabetes women often have larger-than-normal sized babies.

If you get too much larger they might induce you (probably around 38 weeks) so you can deliver vaginally.

However if they do not induce you you could end up having a c-section. Not definitely but possibly.

Either way it does not mean there is something wrong with your baby, so if you're worrying about that, don't. Your doctor knows the best and safest route to take.

Good luck and congrats!

That you're 39 weeks; not 36. Usually when the doctor measures the uterus, there's one centimeter for every week of pregnancy. But the ultrasound is usually pretty accurate, if you've had one done to determine gestation.

It can mean a variety of things. It could mean that your due date is a little off. It could mean that the baby is a little bigger than what they consider "normal" for 36 weeks (which in no way means there is anything drastically wrong...only that you're going to have a bigger baby), it could mean that you are a little heavier than what they consider "normal" weight for heights (like I was...when I got pregnant I was about 35 pounds or a little more, overweight so I measured larger than I was supposed to...my babies weighed in at 8lbs 7oz and 8lbs 7 1/2oz...they said they were large, but when I looked and held them they were not large).

If you're still concerned about it, give your doc or nurse a call and ask. Never be afraid of asking them questions if you have them. That is what they are there for and what you are paying them for!

Good luck!

The one thing that I noticed is (like me) you are on the shorter side and everyone was telling me I was going to have a BIG baby because I was measuring on the bigger side.

If you have a shorter torso there is no where for the baby to grow but out, giving you a slightly larger measurement at times

BTW my baby weighed in at 6lbs 5.5oz
Oh yes and she was and is very healthy.

Just a thought.....

you might have an excessive amount of fluid in the amniotic sac. that's what happened to me with my first baby. i was 30 weeks and measured at 35cm.

now not to scare you, i had complications though. but it could be just fluid. but if the doctor would be concerned, he would have told you so and maybe ordered an ultrasound. since he hasn't, i wouldn't worry too much and just be ready in case they just miscalculated. good luck.

Who did the measuring? This happened to a friend of mine at the doctor's office. Then he said, oops, sorry, I was measuring from the wrong place. And she was right on track. (Sounds like hokey science to me.)

Well, I am only guessing, but perhaps they have dated the pregnancy wrong. I think you should call his office and ask for an explanation. Good luck and maybe this means the baby will be coming sooner than you think.
