Yes, he deserves a rich contract, but NO he is not garbage. He is wrongfully holding out on his new team and jeopardizing his rookie season. How good of a player he becomes is unknown, but he was chosen second, and by rookie contract standards, he does not deserve more than Mario Williams was given, even if most other teams would have taken him with the #1 pick.

A bigger question is "does any professional athlete deserve the enormous contract they receive?" A resounding NO, but we the fans feed these entertainers buying the products they advertise, jerseys and inflated ticket prices.

Reggie Bush deserves the contract of a player picked number 2 in the draft. Yes he would have gone #1 if he and Houston could have worked a contract out but fact remains he didn't. I honestly feel the longer he holds out the less likely he will have a good career.

Similar to what they do in the NBA, there should be a rookie salary scale. A guy that hasn't done jack at the professional level shouldn't be getting an outrageous contract with bonuses.

Reggie Bush is not garbage though. He'll be great.

Alright check this idea out. He thinks he deserves it right? The team doesn't think so. Why doesn't he settle for the lower contract....PROVE he deserves it....then negociate for it. I think it's bull that these 1st round picks get so much money before proving themselves in the NFL....

no, I believe rookie should get a standard contract. Let the guys that have the time and proven themselves be the ones w/ the good contracts.

He needs to settle for whatever the Saints are going to give him and focus on football and not let New Orleans down.I mean he's going to be rich no matter what they give him.He should just be thankful for the opportunity to play football!

i personally think the amount of money pro athletes make is sick, although i have not walked in their shoes, but to pay someone in the millions for playing a game, is just unspeakable. think about all the deserving people who could make their lives better with that money.
