Online. I strictly play in the freerolls tournaments. They say they award actual money and it don't cost a thing.
In person. We have occasional Texas Hold 'em tournaments. Usually 5-8 people. Buy in $2-$5. Have a lot of fun, keep up with friends, make a little money sometimes.

You can do both, most sites offer free play chips so you can try the site on for size and see if you like it. But to play with real money you have to use firepay or net-teller to play with real money.
