From your own experiences, can you tell me what to expect...or anything that I should know?
I know that it might take work, do think that its worth it.

Here's a few things I've learned over the years:
It takes lots of practice, and you have to be willing to practice at least half an hour every day. Otherwise you won't get any better, you'll get frustrated, and most likely quit.
String instruments are a pain in the butt to tune, so if you are someone who is really picky about that you'll be tuning all the time.
You're going to have to cut your nails short (at least on your left hand) otherwise you won't be able to finger right.
When you first start out your fingers are going to be really sore, and have these cute lines across them, don't worry it'll get better with practice, but if you stop practicing for awhile you'll have to build the calluses up all over again.
Make sure you get a teacher that'll let you play music you want to play. If you want to play rock and all you're teacher wants you to play is classical, you aren't going to want to practice.
And always remember that music is fun, and totally worth all the hard work you are going to put into it.

you need to know that no matter what, there is always room for improvement.
guitar is a great choice! im intermeadiate going on expert, but it took me a ling time (and i already have learned 2 other instumnts,so i am learning fast pace). it gets really fun and getting into a garage band is best motavation. start of with a hevy cheap fender pick, and go ahead and go crazy for your guitar-pick exactly what kind you like so you WANT to stick to it. i started of with a private teacher and went to getting those guitar mags-the cds are really fun to work with now i get an issue every month!also, go to a brook mays store and get the begginers book with cd. find the one with pic and interviews of guitar heros on the side-it really helps.work you way up the books and evry free moment you have, pick up your guitar.
i hope i helped you enough,rock on! <3

i began taking courses on electrical guitar approximately two month in the past and i have not ever performed acoustic guitar, you don't want it, however they are saying for those who first gain knowledge of acoustic guitar then the electrical one could be simpler. you cant do whatever approximately your hands you will have to play and play till the end of your hands epidermis turns into thick, "your hands will have to be harm"!!! train makes excellent, that is the one means!

Wow what a coincidence I just started playing myself and I have been asking myself that same question. It guess it depends how far you wanna go as a guitarist. Get yourself a teacher that would make it fun and easy to learn don't loose hope you'll learn.

i just started learning like 3 months ago. just make sure u REALLY wanna learn it, because i thot i did, but now i dont even like to practice, which is the whole point of guitar. you dont practice, you dont get any better. and keep in mind, if you quit, ur stuck w/ that guitar (unless you like ebay)

It takes lots and LOTS of practice.

Singing while playing is the hardest thing to learn.

Your fingers and hands and wrists will ache and your fingertips will be sore the first few weeks.

I hope you have a passion for it...I have passion for music but not for the guitar...its a lot harder than it looks. a lot. previous knowledge of chords and stuff would definately be helpful.
