I had the same problem and when i went to see the doctors, specialists and physiotherapists it turns out that i am double jointed. The popping sound occurs due to the instability of the joint. I was given a few exercises to strengthen the surrounding muscles and it seemed to help. It might also be the start of arthritis, but i would go to the doctors to make sure.

So do mine...all the time...just fluid moving in there.
I don't think a multivitamin is the answer. I am pregnant therefor I am on a multivitamin. I am not old either, I'm only 21. However, due to pregnancy there is more weight than usual on my joints.

Fluid is moving around in there, like when you crack your fingers. If you're concerned, go to a doctor.
