A friend of mine said that there's no law against beating your wife, as long as you dont kill her, is this really true?

Where the hell did I say I was planning on it? A friend of mine and I were talking about ethics and this came up... I thought I would ask about it on here because it sounded so absurd. Next time think before drawing ridiculous conclusions about people. I would never lay hands on a member of the opposite sex.

Yes, and it is also legal for a wife to beat her husband, as long as she does not kill him. Wifes are allowed to be armed. So think twice before moving there.

Laws in Mexico are Napoleonic. Meaning people are guilty until proved innocent, not the other way around.
To answer your question, domestic disputes are often not viewed with much importance in Mexico. But assault and injury will be viewed as a crime. If you do that, you'll be in jail until you are proven to be innocent.
BTW, you are definitely a pig if you just want to go to Mexico to beat your wife.
