It's a Compaq Presario.
Product Number: 5SPXE1
Current RAM: 256MB
It was bought almost 5 years ago, but unfortunately I don't have space for a new one at the moment.
So I'm thinking of adding on about 512MB-1GB of RAM, but there's all these diffferent types. I prefer places like: Circuit City, Best Buy, Staples. So If you could give me a link to some products at one or more of these sites it would be really helpful.

It's not circuit city, but they tell you what you need:

PC133 SDRAM DIMM.

You have 3 slots, so you probably have a 256MB or two 128's.

If you are running XP, even an extra 128MB would help, and I would recommend moving up to at least 512MB. Going higher will not help much more, unless you are doing very memory intensive things.

Great job listing the model number!

It looks like your computer takes PC133 168pin SDRAM Modules. It should still have 2 vacant slots and add as much as 3GB. Depending on the OS, I would not go over 1GB memory. If its Win98 just buy another 256MB - 512MB max. If its XP 512MB - 1GB.

Even though you can buy cheaper online, if I were you (you sound like a novice), I wold buy retail. Easier to exchange if there are an issues with compatibility.

Good luck!
