VACATION !!!! Safari, Camping, Yosemite, river rafting, Monterey, San Francisco Wedding a bitto time here and there, driving best to cover all we want to see and do saved and saved then gas prices skyrocketed, don't want to disappoint and cut any of the trip out our first one in six years! We have so much to look forward to! We may take longer than 15 days but the approx miles will be about the same. Thanks again!

1500/20 = 75

You will need approximately 75 gallons of gas for the trip. Multiply that by $3.15 and you get $236.25.

Set aside about $250 for gas.

Well, when I go on long distance road trips, I lose gas mileage because I have a lead foot. Looks simple to me, 1500/20 or 75 gallons of gas will cover that distance, and $3.15 x 75 is about $225. Boost that by about 20% though, to be safe. Either gas prices might go up, or your mileage might drop when the AC is on all the time. Or you might get lost and have to backtrack. Set aside $270 and you should be ok, as long as you're arranging food and lodging on a different budget.

I know prices are high, but don't know your budget or the importance of your trip. I would set aside $5.00 per gallon. If you are traveling just 1500 miles at 20 mpg, then you'll consume 75 gallons, not to mention what you'll need in your tank once you reach your destination.

At $5.00 per gallon, a total of 1500 miles would cost you $375. At $4.00 per gallon, a total of 1500 miles would cost $300. From what I've seen of California prices, I would expect something closer to $4.00.

How badly do you want to make the trip? Is this vacation?...visiting relatives?...sightseeing?...might want to reevaluate and stay closer to home.

Price of Gas in CA is about $3.50.

You will spend between $250-$300 in gas (depending on price) if you are driving 1500 miles averaging 20mpg.

1500 miles / 20 mpg = 75 gallons X $3.50/Gallon = $262.50

mpg = m/g

20 = 1500/g
g = 1500/20
g = 75 gallons

now multiply that by the price of gas assuming that it doesn't change from city to city.

75 * $3.15 = $236.25

A good estimate is 3.50/gallon here in Southern California. So this would be 262.50 total. Plan at least for 300.00 to be safe.
