Well, really, we don't know...into a void, but what does that mean? It means that there is something, some definite reality that the universe it expanding into. The universe is so vast that we humans cannot intellectually understand it as a reality. in fact, the vast majority of people are astouonded with the incredible vastness of just our solar system when it is presented to them in real terms.
Thank goodness for Star Trek.
I have rechecked around the net and the best anyone can say is that it is expanding into nontime, but most cop out and say that it can't expand forever and it will all one day collapse back in on itself...what a lame answer and then they never quite answer the question you asked. Oh well, here's a link

Dont think he was looking for a "religious answer" rather as the topic head reads "science" >The theory of the so called expanding collapsing universe has been revisited and revised. The new theory is that we are expanding at a more rapid rate and will continue to do so .Theres a little more involved ,but i dont have all the details .This was reported in many science magazines .

have you ever read in the bible that God said that His thinking is not the same as our thinking? there are still a lot of questions around us that neither science nor theology could answer, and one of those questions is that one. But the best advice that i would give to you is that why don't you ask God when we see Him face to face?

It's just simple, really, accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior, repent from your sins, and God will accept you someday in his home-HEAVEN!!! then ask Him those questions that really boggles your mind.
