I just began play tennis last year, and i improved a lot by practicing, especially during the summer. I'm using a beginner's racquet, a Wilson U.S. Open. I've got my racquet restrung. The racquet is not really affecting too much when i play. Should i keep my racquet the way it is, or restring it, or buy a new one? How much of a difference does a better racquet makes? If i should get a new one, what kind of racquet should i look for? I tried 3 demo racquet when my friend was buying it. They were Head FlexPoint 4 Tennis Racquet, Volkl BB5 Boris Becker Tennis Racquet, and Volkl DNX V1 Oversize Tennis Racquet. The head and Volkl V1 cost $200, and the Boris Becker cost about $110. I liked the Volkl V1, but it might be too expensive for my level. Any suggestions?

Good players change rackets at least yearly.
But, the better ones, even in Junior High have the companies help them with the cost. I woudl buy a new one once a year at this point.

I'm a nationally certifed Tennis Instructor, as well as a Mechanical Engineer, so I feel particularly qualified to answer your question.

Until you become an extremely good tennis player, you'll be largely unable to notice or take advantage of a better tennis racquet or strings.

The secret of playing better tennis lies not in the racquet or strings, but in technique. In fact, the difference between tennis racquets is fairly small.

Since you're current racquet is serving you well, I strongly recommend you buy a new one only when it breaks!

I'm the kind of tennis players who are faithful with their racquet, so I don't change so often until I see there are improvements of my own model...If you are taller since you bought your racquet maybe then you should change it because maybe that's what it's affecting you a little, instead of spending in a new racquet buy a grip, an antivibrator (my first language is spanish so i'm sorry if I'm wrong with the name) and get it restrung, if that doesn't work then buy one...I use the Head Intelligence series so if you decide to buy one I recommend it

You dont need to buy a new racquet if you are comfortable with the one you have right now. Trust me in high school you dont need that expensive racquet. That's all.

I am a serious tennis player(#1 for my high school and im only a freshman) if you would like to get serious about your tennis game then you should buy a more expensive raket. it will help your game, trust me i had a pretty cheap Wilson and when i switched to a better raket i hit the ball harder, got more spin and it felt like i got the most out of every shot. Now i am not saying go out and buy a 250 dollar raket , i hav a 80 dollar Dunlop raket (which i totally recomend) and i play great with it . make the right desicion before you buy. (size and color, weight ect.)
