I'm not talkin about sean paul or famous jamaicans. I'm talkin about everyday jamaicans. They have some solid arguments too and I'm half latino and half white but I identify myself as a latino. I mean some of the riddums in " our " music are taken from jamaican dancehall. Don't forget about the dembow. A solely jamaican beat. I think that they are not mad at us but they just would like a little more respect and credict from us If us as latinos saw jamaicans do the same with music like salsa and they gave us no credict I think we would be pissed off too. I really belive that most of the credict for reggaeton and hip hop does belongs to the jamaican community. Even Tego Calderon said that he never liked reggaeton at first beacuse it was like we were copying the jamaicans. I was just thinking. SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE.

I'm not sure about the jamaicans that you know or the jamaicans in your communities but in mine there is some anger towards the reggaeton movement. It sounds like they don't feel apprecieated in the process of making this music. I know that there must be some angry talks in the homeland of reggae but then again there might not be.

i'm listening to DAddy yankee RIGHT now, and i never knew that jamaicans felt that way...we should give them credit for helping make reggaeton a popoular genre of music.

The beat is a complete steal but that is a west indian rythem that
has been around since before Regga. This rythem was mostly
played on the Congas. It now adapted throught the Drum machine
bass drum and snare and side stick. This rythem is common
in both west indian and latino culture ! the youth is just jumpping on the bandwagon ! This from a old school musician
from the recording industry!

Well,i'm a latina puertorriqueña and i don't like reggaeton because of the lyrics not the rythm,i'm more of a pop,ballads,80's music and metal, but yes,i agree with you,we should give credit to the Jamaican community who introduced us to reggae rythm.
