a globe with a great circle indicator is a big bonus in keeping clear about world politics and conflicts,

nasa world wind and google earth are helpful but are still 2D and do not give a clear idea of the directions and distances involved

I don't own a globe, but I have lots of maps and I look at them often. Our Democrat Senator Ron Wyden, during his campaign, was asked to point to Iraq on a globe. He didn't have a clue! Enough said.

We have a few globes and many maps.

It is amazing how much smaller our world has become as the internet has grown.

I have one of those globes that look old ( brown) and I've always loved looking at it. Ever since I was I child I've loved looking at all the different places and unusual names.

I own numerous globes and love to collect them. Its hugely fascinating to me to see how political boundaries and names change.

I look at them very frequently.... one is on my desk.
