Now I am scared that mine will some how get infected and I will die. I am willing to take care of it as much as my mom did hers, but I am scared that somthing will go wrong. Please help!!! What do you think I should do? Get it done, take care of it and hope for the best or not get it done at all?

And the belly button is some how connected to your heart, that is how she died. It poinised her blood and got to her heart and killed her.

If you do have it done, here are some tips:
1.Just use good-quality metal belly rings.
2.Clean it and twist it (like you are supposed to)
3. If it does get infected, take the ring out.
4. If you take it out and it doesn't get better, keep cleaning it and go to the doctor.

I've never heard of a person dying from a belly button piercing. That might be your mom trying to get you not to do it.

But the best way to prevent infection is to get it done by a professional. NEVER DO IT YOURSELF!!! I don't know if they do belly buttons at Claire's, but they have an antisceptic that can be used on piercings to keep them clean. The bottle says it's for ear piercings, but I'm sure if you ask a sales representative, they can tell you whether it's safe or not.

Okay...I think that nobody can honestly answer that question for you. If you really want it done and are positive that you can take care of it-then get it done and enjoy it! But if you are seriously worried about getting it done then I think that you should wait to get it done. In my state you can't get it pierced (even with an adult, I should know I have tried) until you are 16. Personally I am really excited about getting mine done as soon as I turn 16. But I however do not have as many worries as you do. The decision is yours, do not leave the decision up to people that are online. Hope this helped ya.

You are not going to die. If you are careful with it and take care of it, it's just like any other "boo boo" you've ever had in your lifetime. I've seen some of my friends get bad infections, but if you keep it clean and follow the instructions to care for it (for about 6 months until it heals), you'll be fine. If an infection starts to show, see your family doctor and some antibiotics should take care of the problem.

Ultimately you will have to decide for yourself. It is good to know that you did at least respect your mother enough to get her approval. You know that she really would rather you not do it, and since you have some uncertainties, why rush. Get educated about the procedure and the place that will be doing it.

I personally oppose the idea. We must be realistic and tell you that there is a risk. How large or small the risk is varies from whom you listen too. It is a real risk, but just as real (unfortunately, and we don't want you to know this part) several people are getting it done without complications. I think it wise not to do it because:

I have this love for motorcycles (Bear with me, I'm on the same subject.) I've contemplated for years on getting one. I know me. If I got one, I would be one of those fools racing up the highway at a gazillion mph. Evry time I get close to convincing myself to get one, I hear of a fatal crash involving a motorcycle. I've actually witnessed a decapitation. That kept the idea away from me for about seven years. I keep getting this urge to get one, but am never fully convinced. I've finally decided, whenever I can in good conscious, bring myself to get one "with a peace of mind," then I'll get one. That would be my advise to you.

Hey, keep that line of communication open with mom, it's rare, but great.

The odds of a fatal infection going unnoticed are very slim, so you probably don't need to worry about that. Sounds like a friend-of-a-friend story to me. But if it's going to make you uncomfortable to have it done, it's more logical to not do it. You'll rest easier and not have to worry in the first place. In the end it comes down to, how badly do you want it? If you really do, go for it. If it's not something you totally want, forget it.

belly button infections with piercings are really common-sometimes the piercing can even get ripped out if anything tugs on it. sometimes no matter how much ya take care of your piercings it can still get infected. so choose carfully.only 1 life to do the things you want to do-so i'd say get it done- the chances of it getting infected are 50/50 and plus..even if it did get infected you'd go to the doctors.

You could also die in the car on the way to the mall, or lightening could strike you. Take a chance, live life, and quit being scared of things. If it get's infected, go to the dr and get some antibiotics.

Well, you need to know the reason why you wanted it in the first place...is it because you yourself really wanted it or is it because of your mom?.....if you really want it for yourself, you could do it...if not, wait until you're ready....if you do get, make sure that the place you're getting it at is clean...my cousin got one and she cleaned it everyday with, I think alcohol, for like the first few weeks and then just used it less often afterwards...if you just clean it you will be fine...and if you get an infection...GO TO THE DOCTER'S!!!...well....good luck!

It is highly unlikely that you would die from that kind of infection. Plus, you would have to neglect it completely to achieve said nasty infection. Make sure the place you go is certified and that the instruments are sterilized. You'll be fine. Just follow the care directions like they tell you too.
