Does anybody else think the movie "Miami Vice" got kind of a raw deal in the reviews it's getting? I just saw it and I loved it. It wasn't all explained for me, and I had to pay attention, just like the original series (in the beginning). But I got what was going on, I didn't think Foxx and Farrell mumbled, and it definitely had the same attitude as the series (in the beginning). Thoughts?

I also love Michael Mann's stuff, although I've never seen "Manhunter" or "Maneater" or whatever the first Hannibal Lecter movie is. But that's more to do with my movie preferences than it's to do with my opinion of him. I think he's a visionary and a genius.

I have not seen it yet, but I do one thing! I never listen to the critics!
I have read bad reviews, worse reviews, and pretty good reviews!! Ya just have to go and form your own opinions. The one thing that I have a feeling that I am going to aggree with is that it doesn't have the tv show Miami colors, cause all the previews I have seen are pretty dark.

LOVED IT!!! Saw it yesterday and if you're expecting to see a rehash of the original Michael Mann's Miami Vice-forget it! This is an intense film that was filmed in places so horrible you can't imagine! The steamy scenes with Colin Farrell and the "boss lady" assistant are great as are the visuals and storyline; just wished Jamie Fox's character was a little more relaxed; That was one thing that always bothered me about the series.B+

The problem here is that Michael Mann called this movie Miami Vice (even it´s completely different from the TV show) and this will cause people compare both and build different expectactions; I think that if he wouldn´t named it Miami Vice; he would have gotten better reviews.

Miami Vice is a much better film that most critics have said. Most of those critics are into that mainstream garbage like is liked from everyone.

It takes a special kind of person to appreciate the work of Michael Mann. I love all his movies and t.v. projects.

Yes, it's an excellent movie, just like most of Director Michael Mann's work such as Collateral and Heat. It moves fast and you definately don't want to leave the theater for bathroom breaks or snacks or you'll be lost. I'd give it 3 out of 4 stars but that's just my opinion.
