Okay I don't know the traditions for each country
and i won't reasearch it because I am to lazy but
I am from India and here is how it works. First of all you
have got to be a virgin. No offense to America but what
you guys do is very nasty. Having more then one partner
in a life time and doing it before marriage. THAT IS NASTY!!In comparison the American bride wears this white tang top
gown and this silk thing that covers the head. And a ring
and a chain. In India the bride wears this sparkeling red/gold
sari and plenty of golden chains which cannot be under
20k. They also wear some golden bangles on the wrists.
And a dimond ring which is usually 22k. And a silver
toe ring. The wedding hall will have members from bopth families
and a band. The ceromony lasts for 2 or 3 days. There is
usually 9 gurus or saintly men with the groom and bride
sitting around a fire set on a solid cube. The 9 men will
say some words like any American marriage. The thing
is that they will read some ancient marriage texts in
sanskrit a language in India thats been around for 5,000
years. To say it all would take about 10 hours so thats why the marriage lasts for 2 or 3 days. In the process the bride and groom
and their parents must say their parts of the text and put offerings
in the fire like some silk and fruits. The saintly men must get
their offerings or gifts for proforming the marriage. Usually
it is money or silver. On the final day there is the parade.
The bride is carried in a wooden alter thing which takes 8 men
to carry . The alter will have a fixed chair in it and will be decorated with lots of silk, flowers etc. So its like a small dog house. There will also be some men fanning the bride with
a fan made of peackock feathers. Behind the bride who
is being lifted will be about 3 vans which will carry the most closest family members like brothers and sisters and parents
and grandparents and the groom. The rest of the family members will probably go by feet or just watch from the side lines as other people on the streets might do. Those people will throw flowers. But in the very back behind the carriage which the bride is in or the vans will be an elephent which some families hire with
the elephent man. But only 40% of Indian marriages include the elephent so its not an official thing. But if the elephent
is included then it will be decorated with lots of things. Some of the kids related to the bride and groom usually take turns to get their lift on the elephant. And after all that the tierd husband and wife will move in to their new home but most just stay with their
parents until they are decesed. And then its the honeymoon.
And there you have it. An Indian marriage. What do you
think of it compared to an American marriage. LOL.
You guys do not know what you are mssing. But a typical
marriage costs about 8000 dollers in U.S currency.

Wedding tradition - In the Philippines, the girl must be virgin before getting married. When they are in the reception, they dance according to their theme song and both parties (parents, relatives or friends) will pin money on their dress.
