It all depends on whether you plan on being sexually active. If you think you will be, then you should probably take precautions. HOWEVER, this will not give you a license to not use a condom. Pregnancy is only one of the many things to be concerned about when you become sexually active.
If you have really bad menstrual cramps, the pill can help that, as well. My primary concern for you would be that you not go on the pill just because you think you need to be sexually active now that you're in college.
I lost my virginity my freshman year in college, and I wish that I had waited.

If you are already sexually active, you should go to a doctor ASAP and get on the pill, in the meantime, I hope you are using condoms! They not only protect against pregnancy, but also STD'S when used correctly.Even if you are not sexually active right now but plan on starting to have sex in the near future, I would still visit a doctor as soon as you can to explore your options-there are many different methods of contraception out there, and you and your doctor can determine what one would work best for you.The sooner you start to protect yourself, the better! Remember, it only takes"one time". And if you're not sexually active and don't plan on starting anytime soon? I have a friend who takes the Pill even when she isn't having sex, and she says it works wonders for her-lighter periods, nonexistent cramps, and it also helps her body build up a higher resistance to infections such as colds and the flu. Just something maybe you should consider-but either way, you should still make an appointment with a a gyno to have an examination-he's much more qualified to answer your questions then me. Good luck!

Yeah it's a good idea. Just a suggestion: the patch is great, you just have to remember once a week to change it. And once a month to leave it off for a week. I do much better on it than I do on the pill.

I would start the pill however always use a condom!!! And remember sexually transmitted diseases aren't picky who they infect!! I had a friend contact genital warts the first time she had sex!! Believe me, she went through hell to get rid of them and it was very painful. What a way to lose your virginity!!!

That's a choice that you need to make on your own. How do you feel about it? Remember that you need to be cautious about unprotected sex as well.
