Is this a new thing? Are you just now having sex after 43 years? My hubby stay hard for hours if we keep the mood going. If we don't he goes soft after 1/2 hour or so. The answer is yes, men generally have a refraction period, women don't. But everyone is unique. Learn to embrace this, it's a blessing not a curse. I love that my hubby can go for hours. If it's painful though talk to a doctor.
Good Luck!

My boyfriend is 24 and I am always amazed that he stays hard after sex. He is completely capable of having intercourse again, but he doesn't have the drive, just the erection. He tells me that he has always been like that, for some reason he can maintain and erection after an orgasm, but I don't think there is anything *wrong* with him. He is just lucky. He says it goes soft a few minutes afterwards if you leave it alone, or if you urinate it goes right away. He is the only guy I have ever known who does this, so I am glad he is not the only one- as I am sure you are! I am sure you are fine, but like that other person says, if you and your partner feel up to it, there's always the option of round two! ;)
Most men do lose their erection after an orgasm, however there might be a handful that don't, just like those lucky women who are capable of multiple orgasms. Consider yourself lucky.

That varies man to man. Some stay hard and some go down immediately. Mu husband stays hard but is too sensitive to go again. It just takes some time. Relaxing about it after wards usually helps. If you are still stimulated and she is willing you can always go again if its not uncomfortable. Its the relaxation of the muscles surrounding the penis that cause the erection. The more relaxed the muscle the more blood is able to flow to the penis meaning a harder erection. So if its a problem once you are done take you mind off of it and don't worry. Its normal unless you are taking Viagra or Cialis and experience longer than normal erections. If its natural don't worry, if its medically induced, talk to your doctor.

You are 43 you should know by now if your penis should stay on hard or go down. You haven't figured out how your play toy works. You should not have to ask other people about this.

The sensation for orsal is very differnet from vaginal sex. He may simply have an easier time with oral. He also could be gay. I have a friend who denied his orientation for years, repeatedly tried to have vaginal sex and couldn't, but always ejaculated when given oral. He finally accepted who he was. Stop giving him oral first, and help him work on delaying the moment during vaginal sex. It takes practice to do it right - but that's part of the fun:)
