Next question, do you know the difference between the two? If they were cooked, and you were eating them, could you tell the difference between them? Yes, they are two different types of rhizomes, not the same as some may think.

I like sweet potato better! It's way softer and sweet and you can make pie out of it! Yea I know the difference between the two yams are like a kinda hairy brown thing whie sweet potatoes are like purple-ish. Also, the inside of a sweet potato is orange!

in fact, finding yams in the united states is quite difficult. they have virtually disappeared from common consumption. the "yam" that most people eat is actually a mislabeled sweet potato but because people really don't know the difference no one can say much about it. as i understand it, the yam can only be found today mostly on islands grown in personal gardens.
plenty of folks will argue with me but do some research. you'll learn as well.

I like yams. But I'll only eat them smashed with gray. I hate the candies ones with the marshmallows.

Who the frippy cares as long as you put it in a pie crust all mashed up with sugar and molassas and pumpkin pie spices!!! You can also put pecans in mine and marshmallows on top.

Please tell me the difference if you know, I think they are the same thing, I eat them both and can't tell the difference, except one or the other is stringier, I don't know which one. I prefer the ones that are stringy but I don't know which one that is.
