My Baby's Heartbeat at 9 weeks?

Question

I had my first vaginal ultrasound when I was about 9 weeks pregnant and the doctor picked up the heartbeat with no problem. The heartbeat was 176 bpm. Is this really good? I also read that if you can find a good strong heartbeat at least once you have a 1% chance of miscarriage is this true too? Please help. Thank you.

Yes, that is a good, strong heartbeat. Old wise-tales was that if you had a fast heartbeat, you were going to give birth to a girl. I proved them wrong, I had a boy. Being pregnant you always run a small chance of a miscarriage. Don't let everything you read scare you. Just let God and nature take care of everything and relax and enjoy the living angel growing inside of you. Take lots of pictures of yourself pregnant, cause if you don't you'll regret it.

Never heard about the 1% miscarriage rate but that is a good strong heart rate.. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

There is an old wise tale that goes something like this "The faster the heartbeat(above 155) chances are it is a girl, and the slower then heartbeat chances are it's a boy"
Don't know how true that is because my last born was a boy and he had a fast heartbeat!!

the miscarriage thing is not true.........at all. I heard all of my kids heartbeats at 9 weeks as well....and all 4 are healthy as can be. Good luck with baby. Sounds like everything is normal.

That's great. But it's just an old wives tale about the heartbeat predicting the sex, because I always heard if it was fast, it was a boy. And my son's heartbeat was always 160 and up.

Yes it is good!!!! It also may indicate that you are having a girl!
