I have a Promark ruggedized laptop running Win98SE with 64M ram. I need this configuration for certain hardware/software apps that I'm using in extreme/marine locations so I can't change the OS or hardware. But now I need USB capabilities. Is there some adapter I can get that plugs into serial/parallel ports. Send link if you know of one. Thanks a bunch!

You need USB to RS232 Serial adapter.

OfficeMax, Office Depot, Staples, Compusa, Best Buy, Circuit City, try one of those first. If you have 64 MB of RAM, you need to get a new computer right away. You need a serial to USB adapter and then need to find a USB (2.0) hub that as USB ports to where you can plug USB things into the ports.

I don't think there is a way to convert RS-232 (serial) or parallel in to USB, but there are PCMCIA cards to slide in, to add USB ports to any laptop, as far as I know all laptops come with such a port, just go to the store ans ask for a PCMCIA card, they normally come with 2 or 4 usb ports in them

They do make adapters that can help you plug a PS2 mouse into the parallel (printer) port. verify at appropriate purchase. Walmart or your close by pc save. seek for a PS2 to Parallel adaptor.
