Hawaiiian Tropic is to be used only by people who already HAVE a good tan. If you don't have one, use your sunblock until you acheive a tan, then use the Hawaiian Tropic.

If you use both together, you are diluting the effects of both and probably negating the effects of both. Use a sunblock, lowest number you can use that will prevent a burn, then after your tan, use the Hawaiian Tropic.

BTW, Hawaiian Tropic does make tanning oils and lotions with SPF (though a very low number), see this link:

Bettter yet, get your tan from self tanning products. Not only is it better for your skin (prevents dryness, alligator hide and premature aging), you can get as dark as you choose with no health risks (malignant melanoma).

The two don't go together. You're not going to get a deep tan while using sunblock. Sunscreens with a lower SPF let some rays through, but to protect your skin from damage, you really need to use something with at least a 30 SPF.

I have tanning oil with spf protection. It has a smaller amount of spf than sunblock lotions, so you can get tan, but it protects your skin.

oil is oil unless it contains beta carotene ( yes from carrots) it will not develope a tan faster.
Oils smooth your skin, and well hydrated skin as opposed to dry skin will hold a taan better because your top layer of skin is not flaking off.
Sun block, blocks out some of the harmful rays that cause you to burn if you use a low spf you will get " more sun"
If you dont burn easily I would suggest using like a 10 spf.
If you like the oil use it over the block, I dont use the oil because sand sticks to ya,I use the coppertone spray ( banana boat comes out white) I would recomend it if you are putting on oil over it.
It also depends on how long you are in the sun, You can actually tan better later in the day because you arent out when its easier to burn, 10-2 you should avoid laying out.If thats how you tan.
Hope that helps.
Also h. tropic has a web site, they DO have oils with sun screen.
