I do the following types of volunteering and I love each.
1) Bringing international high school students to the USA for a year
2) Sending high school students from the USA abroad for a year
3) Volunteer for California State Parks
4) Building a job placement tool for a non-profit in South Africa
So, I'd say I prefer helping youth, nature and the poor.

Other: All of those, because they're worthwhile causes, but also these: helping kids learn to read/tutoring, helping with programs at a local library, and working for a local humane society, because I really feel these too are important. Any volunteer work done with a good will and intention is worth time, I think.

Id prefer volunteer work which is most out of my charactor, ie, if your shy then volunteer someplace busy, or if your not used to dealing with people with a disability, offer to read or help someone with their shopping etc.
Challenge yourself at all times, you'll achieve much more.

I have done volunteer artwork considering that I grew to develop into disabled/ retired. the appropriate position i have labored is the close by V A well-being center. The veterans are the most thoughtful and appreciative human beings i have labored with as a volunteer.i'm nonetheless there and plan on staying as long as they are going to have me.i'm getting significantly better organic pride than i will likely supply.

Belive it or not,I volunteer with the elderly who are shutins and who are sick . Laughter, a kind word or gentle touch mean so very much
I also work with the humane society particularly with horses

I helped animals at my local shelter. I got to clean out cages, walk the doges, and meet with people doing community service. I later was asked to join the board of directors, which I did.

Join first response. You will be the first one to arrive at an accident, or a caridac arrest or drowning. It's a great feeling knowing you got someone to breath again and saved someones life
