Just tell him. "Hey, I'm feeling bad about what happened, and if we should be together that way, I shouldn't be feeling bad. I'd really like things to be the way they were before. Can we do that? Can we be friends again?" He may be feeling different, but maybe not. Either way, you've got to let him know that your not into letting things get out of control again. If he is a good friend, he will listen and be supportive. If he was only around for things to get out of control in the first place, .....let him go, and be supportive of that decision on his part. Lesson learned.
