I found it very strange that when he died, you never heard anything about that, but it was very obvious, wasn't it. I haven't listened to Alice in Chains in a very long time, I'm gonna put on their MTV unplugged CD now. Yeah, it does suck that he died, they were great. Good riffs.

Well just about every song had some sort of lyrics that in one way or another mentioned death. I do think he was trying to call out for help, he was also addicted to heroin and if you ask me anyone that uses that is crying for help. He must not have really opened up to his bandmates that much, or an even sadder thing they might not have cared or thought it wasn't worth it. In some cases it isn't worth it to even try and help because it only sets them into a bigger downward spiral. I wish someone would have tried just a little bit harder with Layne, he was a great singer and lyricist.

yes i think hs lyrics showed a desperate soul. and success only postponed his angst. i think once he had moments alone, he let it all overwhelm him again. too many die too young
