You really cant, its a part of you. It gets easier as you get older but you will never fully forget those feelings, good and bad. It just makes you a better person by learning from your past mistakes. Finding someone who you love deeply can make that ache less noticeble.

This is a difficult question to answer. It would be great for anyone going through such emotions to have a step-by-step approach to stop the aching. Unfortunately matters of the heart are more complex with no manual.
My suggestion is to recognize the hurt, the aches, the pains. Then stop and be thankful for the times you had. Take the good times and the bad and learn from them so you can be better in your next relationship. Good Luck. In time your heart will heal and you'll find your coping mechanism.

I can never stop the ache when I see my first love :( Its something special that I will always hold close to my heart. But I am with someone right now and that makes me happy ! :) So think of the person you love now and call him/her when you feel down. They will understand too!

is this aching because you want to be with them or aching because they hurt you. if you are aching because you still love them, it will not go away until you are ready for it to go....one day you'll wake up and it wont be there anymore...but on the other hand if you are aching because they hurt you...you have to move on...meet someone else get over them and be happy as long as you are happy....you usually won't care if they walk in the room....you wont even notice them being there because you are content and with someone who makes you feel wonderful.

Drink a really hot cup of coffee then go to a really scarey horror movie with another guy. Take a deep breath and enjoy the new company.

think of all the negative things about them and how in the long run you prolly wouldn't have gotten along as you think. If you broke up, there must have been a reason. it wasn't meant to be....maybe becuz you have to meet someone better, or maybe becuz he'll or she will turn out to be a total psycho or loose his/her mind in a few years, or he got some girl pregnant and in a few years some kid named jake is gonna pop up and say "hello, you're my father, you meet my mom one night at a bar"....point is, you never know what you got yourself out of....you never know.

Why are you aching? Are there unresolved issues? Is it something you can fix? If you can resolve it, try. If not, remember that there's someone out there who is better for you, who will not hurt you.

depends upon how strong your charterer is. just grin and bury the thought and go on with your life. it hurts us all weather we show it or not. be strong and just go to the next level.
