Sprint is better as long as you don't need to do international calling use the walke talkie service, need the GPS service.

Sprint has reception in 98 of the top US cities where Nextell only covers 50. That's almost fifty percent less reception.

Sprint has the highspeed internet capabilites on thier newer phones.
This means you can connect to laptop to use as a high speed modem, watch TV programs, and listen to Sirius music.

You need to look at the service areas you would use. Sprint generally has better coverage (if you plan on traveling a lot I'd go with Sprint - especially in rural areas).
Nextel has the handy direct connect (walkie talkie), but everyone you use that with must be on Nextel. With Nextel, you can add mobile2mobile calling for $5.00/month, which allows you to call unlimited minutes to all Nextel and Sprint phones. And yes, you can port Sprint to Nextel or Nextel to Sprint with no early termination fees.

Just bought the Sprint plan....Its OK, the phone is great, but I figured that I would be able to walkie talkie all my buddies on the nextel service, but that was not the case. So now I am stuck with this plan for 2 years and can not talk to my bro's
