how long does it take to find out it crashed? I am on my son's computer and opened an email I probably shouldn't have and am praying it is just spam and nothing else. This was a while ago. Would the computer have gone down by now? Please.... it's the only one we have left. Thank you

If your worried you should have some spam blocker on your computer and you should have, Zone Alarm, there free
The zone alarm will let you know if the email is safe and if its spam then you can block it. If its bad for your computer or a hacker then a big padalock comes up on the screen and stops all internet activity until the danger is past. But sounds like there is a fire engine in your house for a few minutes. Sirens and whistle and bells. Scared the H--- out of me when it happened.

If, after running your security programs, you are still worried, you can go to various Websites and have your computer scanned.

The virus can become active at any time. Run your antivirus software now. If you don't have one, AVG Antivirus is a good one.

As long as you don't open a flakey attachment, you're probably safe.
