No...but Eddie Money was. (since they're styles are somewhat similar)
Lewis studied engineering in college, dropped out, then did some landscaping and carpentry before going full blast with music.

Not that I've been able to find out - it didn't state that on his biography on allmusic.com. Seeing that he's been in bands since the '70s (starting with Clover), I think his full-time job has been musician for some time.
