Same reason the KKK can, we cannot punish thoughts; only actions.
But, if you wanted to host a party for the mentally deranged individuals, I'll buy the koolaid...

It is a most disgusting perversion of humankind at its worst!!! Advocating sex with boys , and allowed to deceive, teach how to corrupt , kidnapped and have sex with boys and how to get away withit!!! I have always said there are more and worst criminals outside than inside the prison system! Why if a man tries to get close to a boy in a friendly way the parent can have him arrested, why then is tis pervert group allowed to destroy? Their motto is ;sex before eight before is too late! I think these men[???] Animals or devils maybe ,must have mucho money and can do what ever, the thing is .is minority kids whon they look out for, hear in the news of the young boy two of those nambla perverts lured into their car, kill him and then sodomise his cadaver? Yes, here in these U.S.A. with the so called free speech that comes without responsabilities. They should all be locked up and throw the key away. These nambla fellows also go to Asia and Latin countries to PREY on young boys, whom they ADOPT to bring to the U.S.A. and corrupt, abuse and sometimes kill them. Oh, mercy, mercy, what a blasphemy and venom the group is!!!!

Because of the first ammendment to the constitution, which allows people to discuss and advocate practically anything.
Specific actions are illegal. Talking about and writing about virtually anything is almost always protected by the constitutional right to free speech.
On balance this is a good thing, with more benefit than harm, because in its absence there would be much more abuse by the powerful and by goverment.
The downside is that truly abhorrent ideas can be advocated and discussed (without commenting on the ideas advocated by this particular group which I am only vaguely familiar with)
If you want to see what societies without this freedom look like, look at countries like Sauda Arabia, Afganistan under the Taliban, China even today, or Russia under the Communists,

Yes, I totally agree with you. Are they (NAMBLA) licensed and do they pay taxes? If they are nationally registered as a legitimate company/association, then you need to check your laws and legislators for a clear definition of the term "legal". Certainly, an illegitimate enterprise should never be given the legal protection afforded to companies and associations.

I suppose freedom of speech and expression come into play ... and stating things in thought or even in print is not the same as actually doing something. However, one must note that many Gay Pride Parades welcome this organization to be part of their parades, which I feel would only lower the image of gays and lesbians in those particular organizations. There is not enough education and speaking out against this type of thing ... and there has been significant latching of political tactics by the NAMBLA groups in the same way as the early gay-lesbian rights groups ... which to me, is scary.

Freedom of speech, the right to assemble. . .
They can meet and talk about whatever they want to - they just can't act on anything they say because THAT is illegal.
Sick? Yeah, it is - I'm a mom, and I would dismember any man that touched my kid in that way. But if you stop that group, where does it end? Conservatives don't like Liberals, Dems don't like Reps, Catholics don't like anyone. . . It's a very slippery slope to step on.

That's one of the down sides to living in a free country. Just because of NAMBLA I wouldn't take away the right to assemble. I also don't like the KKK.

As disgusting and horrifying as it is, they're probably allowed to exist because of free speech.
