Question for current or former Call Center employees!?

What was your most bizarre or memorable call from a customer and what industry was it in?

Back when I worked at a bank call center...

I was working on Thanksgiving and this guy called because he forgot his PIN number for his ATM card so the machine ate the card (security, you know...)

It took me forever to explain that because it was a holiday the Fedex would go out Friday and he would receive it Monday (he was willing to pay for Fedex... but not for Saturday delivery.)

After about an hour he had this all straight and finally understood that I could not just magically make his ATM card re-appear and so I noted the call and we hung up.

5 minutes later my line beeps again... It is the same guy! He does not realize I am the same person and starts yelling at me about his ATM card...Went through the whole thing again... hung up.

That day I think I spoke to him 7 times. He kept trying to call back and "shop" for different answers and because it was the holiday he just kept getting my line because there were so few people there!


Other quick one... (2 actually) -- Both at the bank and at my current computer support job I have had guys ask me where I am because they want to take me out to lunch... that is not so much as bizarre as creepy... ick... Thank God I can say that my husband would not like that too much!

My customer's name was schanc(pronounced skank). The account was in the wife's name and the husband was actually calling in. When i went to verify the name he spelled it out. So I asked him to pronounce it he said its skank b/c my wife's a total skank. That's why i married her.
