It can, if the money matters to you more than the marriage. Marriage is a partnership, and nothing is above the marriage to real partners. This isn't about idealism, it is about how we get through life together. If both parties are responsible, there should be no problem.

I guess it would depend on how much emphasis you place on money. If you don't care who earns more, then it's not an issue for you. I'd think of a marriage in terms of partnership, not "he earns more than me". My partner has more potential to earn than I do, and it's not an issue for us, because we're partners who love each other. I hope this helps some!

I think his attitude toward money and your attitude toward money are key.
I'd need more information to say more. Do you respect each other for the ways that you each acquire your money? Are you treated as an equal? If you're both working, are you both contributing equally to the chores, etc.?

I think if they love, respect and truly care about each other then it shouldn't matter. These things need discussed prior to marriage and everyone should know where they stand.
