My community was doing pretty good, then bush took office.
Not so good, now.
Every time I pass the local gas station - a higher price is posted.
Considering everyone I know is making the same salary -
that also, is not so good.
Let me just say it - if you were middle class -
Welcome to Poverty Town.

Of which, sadly remains invisible to our pres & his cronies.

They both do...they just have different perceptions of what will make life better for the "average" American family.

I hate to simplify too much but it's better than taking forever...

Republican's seem to think they can make life better for Americans if they take care of big business.. .they figure it will "trickle down" and all the average Americans will have good steady jobs and decent lives. They also seem to love a military economy. And, they definitely love the idea of the poor pulling themselves up with their own bootstraps...no coddling.

The Democrats seem to think that we need to take all the money away from the big business and make a gazillion programs to aid the poor in order to help more people live an average life. They tend to want to use money that would go to military and other pursuits to give to people who abuse the system and refuse to help themselves....ie "We live in a project dump, why don’t you help us America?"...then when they get the help and a better place to live... "Could you help me? I want to kick my walls in at my new apartment housing complex and destroy it so I can feel at home again and complain about how I live in a dump!"

Yeah, I know it's not that simple, but hopefully you get what I mean. Everyone basically wants the same things for America, we just can't agree on how to get it.

I am a strong Democrat, and we do have positive family values and love for community. So do some Republicans. I am tired of people trying to split us down the middle though. In a free country, it should not be a place to impose one's views upon another, but to be accepting to all. If it were not for diversity, the U.S.A. would never have been brought into existence in the first place. Remember, we are all immigrants if you look at a family tree back far enough.

I do... as long as the community wants to be helped... I'm in the South... very poor test scores in schools and they are fine with it overall... no public outrage... but if you raise taxes to help the schools... there is the public outrage...

rather have money than educated kids I guess... too bad they don't have any money really either...

Republicans preach family values... but that's not really a "political issue"... they aren't passing laws on family values... it's not really a political issue... it's a lot of lip service...

republicans do.

conservatives are the party of family values. Hitlary Clinton wrote a book called "it takes a village".

republicans believe it takes a family, accountability, good decision making, and responsibility.

conservative protestant values are certainly the superior culture in America when it comes to caring about the community.

I don't know. . .

Republicans care for the average family as long as they make over $100,000 annually per household.

There are two kinds of caring.

1. The sufficating, "Mommy knows best" kind, even for adult children.

2. The "Train them to stand on their own two feet, so when they become adults they can take care of themselves" kind.

The welfare state is kind 1. The free market state is kind 2. Pick which you prefer. I tend to prefer the free market.

Politicians have lost touch with our community, but can you blamed them?

No one votes.

If you want them to care...get out the vote and they will start listening to you...it's call democracy!
