The 1st mammals evolved from retiles. If people were to become retiles that would mean an impossible amount of backward mutations. That explanation wouldn't be parsimonious and then be violating an important rule of science.

We all voted and decided that being a reptile would mean having rough scaly skin and as a people we spend enough on skin care products as it is, and so decided in a 73 - 18 vote (with 9 abstaining) that it would be better to be a mammal.

Oh, and 897, not all reptiles lay eggs. Many snakes are live born. And dumb science teacher below, many reptiles also take care of their young. God you guys are stupid.

Mammals are warm blooded, give birth to live young, feed the young with mammary glands, and have hair. Humans fit into that grouping.

Reptiles are cold blooded, lay eggs, do not have hair,do not take care of their young, in general.

God probably knew beforehand that we would have way too many outside obligations to spend all of our time sitting on a blasted egg. Imagine asking for a leave of absence from work because you have to sit on an egg. Reptiles (unless they work for car insurance companies) don't have to get up in the morning and go to a public job, so they really have nothing better to do. Besides, God knew that we would be too heavy and clumsy to sit on an egg without breaking it.

Human offsprings are born alive, not enclosed in egg shells that's why we're mammals. We are not reptiles because they give birth to eggs. Maybe someday people could become reptiles if they want.. >_<

Because we are warm blooded animals, and I think it also has to do with having hair also. I can't remember if that is all or not, I hope I could be of some help.
