What is Lt. Henry seeking in the book?

Is he seeking happiness or love or something else? Does he find what he is looking for, and what is the climax or turning point of the book?

I did read the book, but that doesn't mean I know what the narrator is "seeking." I don't think there's a definitive answer.

He is trying to remove himself from the realities of war, even though he can't remove himself physically. he finds what he wants, but falsely.

Lt. Henry is seeking the American Dream.
He doesn't find it. Instead everything is taken away from him.

(This is for a class-read the book. Knowing what happened and being able to fill out the worksheet really won't prepare you for the class)

Dude, read the book. This totally won't help you and if you think you will be able to actually speak intelligently about this in class you are wrong. Trust me! As a teacher you can totally tell when students did something like this.
