Abreva is best, but it is fairly expensive for something over the counter. I agree with the lady who said to consult your doctor. Some people are just prone to fever blisters, which is a form of herpes. However, it might not be sexually transmitted herpes, but I would still check. If you are one of those people who are prone the doctor can prescribe something like Zovirax tablets to aid in keeping them at bay.

I haven't been in your shoes, so I can only pass along what I have seen my dad do - and he swears by it . . . go to the vitamin section of and grocery, pharmacy or discount store and pick up a bottle of Lecithin - it is a safe amino acid. Treat topically with an over the counter cream for cold sores/fever blisters and then begin a regimen of taking the Lecithin - he swears that it reduces both the frequency and duration of the sore.

Try dabbing it with a cottonball to dry the surface of the sore, and then putting a couple drops of bee propolis on it. Do this 2 times a day and in about 3 days it will be gone. If you don't have a bee-honey specialty store in your area, look it up on the Internet. You'll find someone who sell it there for sure. I did and it works.

Abreva over the counter just go get some @ the STORE and take some cotton with Clorox and wipe you mouth piece off gently and then with some alcohol, This keeps germs from re-entering your lips. And maybe just maybe if you do not have oral herpes you just may need a good Colon cleansing. JUST THOUGHT I SHARE THAT WITH YOU. You sound like you are in some PAIN. Take Care

Abreva is great, but expensive... What really works (honest, no lie), is a little gross, but readily available is ear wax. Take a q-tip and get just a bit (don't stick it in too far, don't want your next question to be how do you get a q-tip out of your ear?) and rub it on your fever blister... will dry it up and heal it quickly. Haven't tried this, but know someone who has... good luck.
