Stephen Wolfram would say so. The problem is, we haven't found it yet. And while it would likely be significantly more complex than, say, E=mc^2, Wolfram believes that it wouldn't be longer than a few lines of computer code in the programming language he developed, Mathematica.

A few lines, maybe 3 or 4, that could describe it all - life, the universe, and everything. It's pretty amazing to think about. Of course, no one's found it yet, and it's possible that it doesn't even exist. But if you want to read more about Wolfram and his theories, WIRED has an excellent article about him:

It is sad to say, but in THIS world there is an equation that applies to all life:

life + time = death

This is one of those truths that some people don't want to face. However, this equation can also apply to galaxies and stars if they can be considered to have lifetimes.

Yes. If everything can be broken down to mathamatics, then life certainly has an equation.

Unawareness doesn't equate with nonexistence.

Babies aren't aware of the world, but it's there.

EQUATION = A mathematical statement that two expressions are equal.

Therefore, Equation is USE mathematically, which means numerically, with precision.

Life cannot equate numerically if you want to know when it will finish. But you can equate it with:

Life = 1 (there is only one life)...

I THINK....all the equations that can ever be invented/discovered would be too simplistic to represent life. As the name suggests, life is ALIVE and full of twists, it cannot be represented accurately by an equation.

1+1=2 for that life that reproduces sexually.
1/2=2 for life that uses simple asexual cell division.

Life = X

It already does.
You just referred to it by way of the word "life".
Or are we talking about the same thing?

Let's ask Mr. Owl.

Mr. Owl is a hoot.

Ayn Rand said that [something like] concepts are similar to algebra; measurement omission.

A table has legs (any number of legs) of size (any number of sizes)...

What is of more significance to humans than 'concepts', the tool of condensing knowledge.
