Its not a bad thing to be shy I am like that in front of new people. But if they don't like who you are before you are even yourself, then they don't deserve to be your friend anyways.

I used to be like that, and it was quite bad especially about 4 years ago. My shyness held me back from talking to people I knew by name but not personally. I have no idea how I overcomed it, but probably partly due to my company. If you have loud company, people who draw you out even when you are with other strangers, it might help.
Then again, its not easy, and must consciously make an effort to step out of you comfort zone. It takes time, be patient with yourself. All the best!:)

I used to be the same way but after years of suffering with the thought of what people might think of me if i opened my mouth in a crowd of strangers I finally realized how silly it all was because sooner or later your true self is going to come out and you wasted all that time being shy and worried what a stranger might think of you,so next time you walk into that room full of stranger just remind yourself that you dont know them and they dont know you so who cares what they think if they dont like you oh well who the hell cares they are not worth your time

A little alcoholic beverage always gets my vocal motors running! But seriously, being the quiet one can be a good thing. You don't always have to be the life of the party. Just be yourself.

You should accept the truth that everyone is different from the other. Do not feel shy in front of others. If you have flaws, so do they. Feel confident about yourself. Accept your strengths and weaknesses. Feel free to express yourself in front of othes.

I am really outgoing. But I wasn't always like that. First don't be afraid to speak up. If you are scared to speak up then try pinching your arm untill you say something. It worked for me. Good Luck!

if you're shy in public, have confidence in yourself..There's no reason to be fearful of what others think and be shy around them.
