First many people that promote this idea are women themselves. Hence, the notion is somewhat slanted. Secondly, many men promote this view because by complementing women they win brownie points with them.
I personally have encountered many intelligent and ingenious women. I also have encountered many dimwitted ones. Its the same as you would find in any group.
Finally, it should be noted that the definition of intelligence can be a highly debatable issue. Until we can reach some consensus as to what intelligence truly means we cannot say for a fact that men or women are smarter than each other.

As always Americans see the world from their own perspective denying themselves the opportunity to learn from other cultures.
Yes United States has only elected men as their president. But some of us believed not long ago that Hillary Clinton was the leader in the White House not Bill, and Nancy Reagan was quite a leader in the 80s. And today's corporate America has thousands of women in key management positions. Do you know how many women were elected to Congress, or how many states are run by women?
But what about the rest of the world? Have we not seen women ruling nations? Margaret Thatcher, Queen Elizabeth II in England, Mrs. Butto and Indira Ghandi in India, just recently Chile elected a woman for President and the list goes on and on.
In Science just a few examples: our knowledge of radio and radiation is possible thanks to Madamme Curie. A woman lead scientist to discover the cure for polio a devastating disease that could chain you to a wheelchair for life.
Women are excelling in fields we never thought they could. Science,Engineering, Physics, Medicine
There are men who posses great minds (Einstein, Hawkins, Beethoven), but since the raw material is the same, why can we not acknowledge women who have them too?
For centuries we relegate them to domestic jobs and raising children. Now we are surprised at their achievements. We are different, but in no way males are smarter than females, we are just the same.

Thats exactly why they feel that.
Because until recently women haven't contributed much to world history and science and such, Recently meaning the past 100 years and so.
And I know that this is because they were considered second best and were opressed, I know that I am just stating the truth.
So now some women feel they have to constantly prove themselves to be as smart if not smarter than every guy out there. These women that act like they are twice as good as any man and spit at blonde women don't realize they are actually hated very much.
But saying that there are always smarter people and dumb people and it is not fair to base it on gender.
I just wish people would settle for equality.

In our culture's school environment, girls perform better overall. Not only that, but girls mature faster than boys by about two years at legal adulthood.
Given these facts would you prefer to go back to gender specific schools rather than co-ed? Programs could be tailored to the specific needs of each.
Guys have the tendency to think in lineal thought patterns where gals tend to think in inter-connected net strings. This gives guys the propensity toward science and such. And it gives the gals the propensity toward social structures science. So you'll find more men in the fields of math and engineering and more women in the fields of counseling, nursing, psychology. Not saying men can't do outstanding jobs in social science or that women can't do outstanding jobs in math and engineering, just that its more work for them to get there.
These days there is a backlash against men's prejudice toward women so that the masculine side of society is suffering from lack of affirmation. Most feminists don't agree but a quick study of social history will validate the charge.

I know that I am smarter than some men and that some men are smarter than me. But I do consider myself equal because I worked hard for a living before I lost my right foot in a work accident, most jobs I've had I worked right along side my male co-workers, they never had to take up my slack! I am raising my children without child support from their dad, I take care of my own yard work and I fix my own cars (even rebuilt the motor in my husband's Jeep). I'm not the "weak, little oh I broke a nail" type either, so yeah, I consider myself equal.

Because some women are smarter than most guys. They just are really smart people and sex has nothing to do with it. Your examples are based on white male dominated oppression, BTW. You haven't ranted. You've expressed bigotry, chauvinism, and a lack of understanding of the world in which you live. That would indicate to me that you ask this question not so much as inquiry, but to express a personal problem you have with women. I think I can see what it is. Can you? But if you are young, have faith, you can still grow out of it.

"There has never been a women president, far more men have contributed more towards science, etc, despite the fact that there's only one thing on our minds..."
So you think, due to these things, men are innately smarter than women? Come on.
That doesn't prove anything. If anything, it shows we live in a patriarchal society and men have had more opportunity to succeed. That's all.

Men have natural competitive instinct. They then naturall take one leader position, and it has been like this for thousands of years. That doesn't mean that women are not as smart as guys though. Being president doesn't equal to smart. I guess the mast majority would say Bush isn't exactly a MENSA genius. (not trying to insult him, just saying that he is not the smartest human being on earth) anyway, there are smart men and smart women. I would never say that I am smarter than all guys. I know I am smarter then quite a few men and women though. :)

That is an unfair argument.
As long as women are suppressed with a substandard education, as long as women are marginalized into taking the "girl" jobs, as long as the contributions that a woman can bring are ignored or flat-out stolen, then, of course, they will come off as inadequate.
There has never been a Jewish President; are they "inferior"? There has never been a Black President; are they "inferior"?
Sadly, with your line of reasoning, a Barbie doll is smarter than you, and Barbie thinks "Math is too hard."

As I got older, I began to see that women probably are smarter than men. How many women are killed each year trying to impress a man? Now, how many men are killed each year doing the bonehead things young men do trying to impress women?
Let's face it, we're not all that bright. We work hard to get money to buy nice cars and clothes to impress women. Work harder to get nicer stuff to get better women. Sounds like birds getting shiny things and colored string for their nests, then puffing themselves up and displaying their tailfeathers to scare away the competition and impress the ladies.
Of course, without women, we wouldn't be able to procreate, but aside from that, the world would last about two minutes without women. One guy would try to dominate another guy, then a fight would start, then a war, then we would nuke ourselves into oblivion.
Without women to keep us in check, we would simply become neandrethals.
